I took this photo a few years ago. The shoes hang near an underpass on a route we used to take quite often when we lived in the city. One Saturday afternoon, I snapped a bunch of photos. I don't know anything about them, other than they have been there for years. I love the baby runner (aka tennis shoe) at the top.
There was a recent article about the shoes in the city newspaper. Click here if you want to read it.
I haven't seen these shoes in quite awhile, but it's sort of neat to see that it's still there albeit deteriorating.

They are very decorative - spring colors even! :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a pole like that near our home too, but it's not so colorful! Nice picture.
ReplyDeleteI've seen shoes hanging like this before, but never so colorful. Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely someone's form of artwork. The colors would brighten your mood though!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the colors represent? I read one time that shoes on a telephone wire signified a party going on - but it doesn't sound like those were in the right place for that.
ReplyDeleteYeah-it is amazing how springy it looks! I thought shoes hooked over on a wire meant someone had died (gang-related) these shoes look too much like art though!
ReplyDeleteA family of colorful feet! Whoever threw them up there had pretty good aim to get them all together like that.
ReplyDeleteHere the college student throw shoes over power lines like that when they graduate. But I've never seen the shoes spray-painted before (at least these look like they've been painted to me). You're right about the tiny shoes at the top--too cute!

They are very colorful. Fun image Marie
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, and I'm sure someone had fun getting them up there. They must be delighted that they are still there, providing a talking point.
ReplyDeletemust post my review of a kids book about a shoe tree. must post review.
ReplyDeleteI really like the contrast of colors between the shoes and the sky. Nice capture.
