Penguin's Canadian Pie Contest

Do you like baking? Do you like pie?

Here's your chance to show off your best pie! Penguin is sponsoring a Canadian Pie Contest. All you need to do is make a pie, take a photo, upload it to Flickr and add it to the contest group. Easy peasy!

Here's my entry:

It's a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie with a lattice top.  I'm up against some tough competition (see all of the entries here). There's still time to enter if you haven't already. When it comes to pie, the more the merrier.

Did I mention there's a prize? You could win a book called Canadian Pie by the very funny Will Ferguson and a gift certificate.

Instead of blathering on more, I'll let you get baking. Click here for the details.

Good luck. May the best pie win!

  1. Your pie looks wonderful! I think pie-making is a lost art. Few people want to take the time any more when you can get one out of a box. But they just aren't the same.

Good luck on the contest. I definitely think you should win.

  3. Thanks everyone! I love rhubarb, too. My plants got wiped out this year, but I plan to replace them in the spring.

  4. Really, pie is pretty simple once you get the knack of rolling the pie dough. My mother was a great pie maker and I spent hours watching her technique before I could do it even half as well as she could. She said she had to learn because at the age of 11 she was making 5 or 6 pies a day for threshing gangs.
Good luck Marie. Hope you win and get the Will Ferguson book. He's a hoot.

  5. the pie looks wonderful, I can only get rhubarb for a short while here in the Arkansas stores and had no luck growing it. I grew up with rhubarb in the northern states and love pie and crisp's made out of it. Good luck on your entry.

Thanks so much for your comment. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I've been getting lots of spam comments, so I'm turning on word verification to help keep spammers away. I know it's a pain; I don't like it either. Hopefully, in time I'll be able to turn it off again. Thank you!
